West Indies - Martinique -Fort de France - Josefina, Die Sklaverei in den französischen Kolonien wurde bereits 1794 kurz nach der französischen Revolution aufgehoben, im Sinne der Ideale der Revolution. Josephine bewog aber Napoleon die Sklaverei 1802 wieder einzuführen, da die Zuckerrohrplantage ihrer Eltern auf Martinique ohne Sklaven nicht mehr betrieben werden konnte. Am 22. Mai 1848 wurde auf Betreiben von Victor Schoelcher schließlich die Sklaverei in Frankreich abgeschafft. Noch heute steht auf dem Zentralplatz in Fort de France auf Martinique eine kleine Statue zur Erinnerung an Josephine und ihr Zuhause. |
